About Clare Williams – Botanical Artist
From an early age I have had an interest in flowers and Art. Growing up on Anglesey my love of the sea, mountains, flora and fauna was created.
I went on to study Art in Bangor under the influential Peter Prendergast. Thereafter I studied for a degree in Visual Arts in Cheltenham.
I have managed to live in some wonderful places and travelled around the world to many influential and beautiful countries. I have taken inspiration from many places but in particular I have been taken by the Cayman Islands and Tuscany.
Recently I have moved to Monmouthshire from London to bring up my two children where we have finally put down firm roots.
In recent years I have completed a distance learning course with the Society of Botanical Art, before becoming an Associate Member. I am also a member of the Society of Graphic Fine Art (having recently resigned as a Council Member to focus on my studio).
I have exhibited in the Bankside, Menier, Gallery Seventeen and Westminster Hall in London. I have also exhibited at the Black Swan Gallery in Frome as well as other local exhibitions.
Now my feet are firmly back in Wales I am looking forward to expanding my recently opened studio and workshop on the outskirts of the award winning flower town of Usk. My home being nearby I am able to bring in our home grown vegetables and flowers from our garden to paint and draw.
